Lori Anne Royal (nee Holmes)

August 23, 1964 – August 19, 2026

Lori Anne Royal (nee Holmes), 61, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, surrounded by family.

Known for her bubbly personality and ability to make friends with anyone, Lori will be dearly missed by many. She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Franklin and Geraldine Holmes; her partner, Steve; her children, Anne (Kent) and Greg; grandchild, Claire, as well as many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, David.

Lori was born in Stratford, Ontario on August 23, 1964, to her parents, Frank and Gerry. Known as a social butterfly, Lori always had friends calling on her to come out and play. From a young age, Lori had a passion for ballet, spending countless hours in the studio perfecting her craft, and eventually teaching. She graduated from Canada’s National Ballet School – a huge accomplishment. From her teenage years and into an adult career, Lori worked in various roles in the Parks & Recreation department for the City of Brampton. She loved her work here and made many lifelong friendships.

In 1993, Lori welcomed her first child, Anne, and in 1995, her second, Greg, into the world in Georgetown, Ontario. Lori was a dedicated mother who attended countless hockey games and horse shows throughout the years. She always had a camera in her hand, and wanted to ensure every moment, no matter how big or small, was captured. Family was extremely important to Lori, and whether it was hosting huge holiday family dinners or making trips across the country to visit loved ones, Lori prioritized staying connected.

In the early 2000s, Lori moved to Winnipeg and started a role at Skills Manitoba. She was beloved by those she worked with, and her infectious personality and enthusiasm for the skilled trades will be greatly missed.

In her spare time, Lori loved to be with her family and dog Lucy, walk the sands of tropical beaches, kayak, and cheer on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Lori’s celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 3 at 2:00 PM at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Canada’s National Ballet School or the Health Sciences Centre Foundation in her honour.

The family also wishes to send a special thank you to the Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg’s ICU staff for their care and compassion.
