Skills Canada Manitoba is pleased to offer a variety of exciting programs this Fall to students in Grades 6 – 12.

In-School Program
Grades: 6 – 12
A free 45 minute to one hour presentation that introduces students in Grades 6 – 12 to career opportunities in the Skilled Trades and Technologies.

Cardboard Boat Race
Grades: 10 – 12
Date/Location: October 14, 2015 @ 17th Wing Fitness and Recreation Facility. Armed with cardboard, duct tape and a few other odds and ends, students will
design and construct a boat and participate in both a boat race and weight challenge in a pool. This program is extremely popular and space is limited. Register early!!

Young Women’s Conference
Grade: 8
Date/Location: October 28, 2015 @ Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School, Dauphin
This exciting conference will highlight different vocations in trades and technology, provide varied hands-on demonstrations and tours, introduce young women to women mentors working in the trades or technology field and provide employment and career planning information.

Model Wind Turbine Competition
Grades 9 and 10
Date/Location: November 3, 2015 @ Red River College, Winnipeg
Students will design and build a working model wind turbine which must be able to generate electric power which will be measured electronically and competitively in a progressive playdown.

High School Young Women’s Conference
Grades 9 and 10
Date/Location: November 12, 2015 @ Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. (Henlow Campus)
This exciting conference will highlight different vocations in trades and technology, provide varied hands-on demonstrations and tours, introduce young women to women mentors working in the trades or technology field and provide employment and career planning information.

Youth in Manufacturing Program
Grades 9 and 10
Date/Location: December 1, 2015 @ Red River College, Winnipeg
This program will introduce students to the exciting and varied career opportunities available in Manufacturing. Students and their advisors will tour a local business and then spend time at Red River College touring program areas key to manufacturing and participating in some fun, interactive displays and hands on activities.

Northern Programs
Grades 6 – 12
